Introduction

Welcome to the official web page of the Cambridge City Basketball Club in England, UK. We run weekly indoor basketball scrimmage sessions and mini-tournaments in Cambridge, UK, for adult, experienced players only.

How we do it

We are primarily based in central Cambridge and run sessions weekly scrimmage sessions. You can find all relevant information on our location pages. We do not currently participate or develop skills as a team in any national leagues, and our teams are formed by a group of committed players passionate about basketball in the county of Cambridgeshire, England. Many of our players play for local clubs (Cambridge Cats, Cambridge Cougars, University of Cambridge, Anglia Ruskin University) or have been playing in other clubs in the past.

Our community

As a community-based organisation focused on improving fitness for everyone, we use the sport of basketball as a means to encourage individuals to leave their sedentary lifestyle behind. We wish to promote fitness, teamwork, and leadership through sports. We aim to improve the participation of social basketball for everyone equally and sensitively regardless of age, disability, gender, race, ethnic origin, cultural or social background, sexual orientation, religious belief, political affiliation or any other personal characteristic.

Covid-19 basketball guidelines

We have been advised by Basketball England to support everyone in the basketball community following the Governments decision to remove all social distancing measures from the 19th July 2021. We have opted to adopt a flexible and responsible protocol in order to ensure everyone's safety. The following rules apply to all indoor sessions : 1. Attendees advised before leaving the house, they should check they do not have a high temperature, do not have a persistent cough, they have not lost their sense of taste and/or smell, they have not been in contact with a person with suspected COVID-19 within the past 10 days, they have not been advised to self-isolate as per NHS guidance 2. An attendance register to be kept with all participating players in each session ( Name, Surname, Residential Address, Mobile phone and email) 3. Vaccination status to be updated as members get vaccinated 4. No visitors, audience or non-playing members will be allowed inside the sports hall premises. 5. All sessions will be limited strictly to 18 people ( maximum capacity) 6. A temperature measurement will be taken before each session. Any symptoms of COVID-19 are to be reported immediately 7. All hands to be sanitised prior to and during the games. The ball is to be sanitised and changed in every game 8. Assist the venue operator by cleaning down heavily used areas and surfaces using a sanitiser 9.All attendees are reminded : • Don’t share water bottles/towels/jerseys etc. • Basketballs should be washed or wiped down after sessions 10.
